Each participant in the class will present and lead (part of) a class discussion.You are required to talk to the instructor (e.g., at office hours) beforehand about your plans for the presentation, and any questions or concerns relating to the presentation. Ideally, you will come prepared with a draft set of slides or a presentation outline.

If you cannot make it to regular office hours, let the instructor know so we can arrange a different time.

By 11AM on the day of the class, please submit your slides using this form. These slides will be distributed with the class via the class website.

Your goal as a presenter is to:

• Pick out highlights of the text(s)
• Lead us through some interesting/relevant/difficult concepts
• Highlight some interesting questions for discussion (and include the reflection questions in your slides)

Your presentation should discuss the motivation behind the paper, what it contributes, how it might be improved in the future, and how it connects to larger themes in the class. You do not have to agree with the paper authors when presenting their work --- critical questions are encouraged!

Focus on highlights of the paper, rather than attempting to cover everything. Don't feel obliged to follow the structure of the paper. Often, it may make sense to start with an example or experiment that appears later in the paper, if it helps communicate an intuitive sense of what is being studied.
